BIOGRAPHY

Born in Taiwan, Chia-Yang Hsu began his music education at the Xiamen Music School, where he studied under Ms. ChenYin. He also had the opportunity to study with Professor Chen Weiling from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He pursued his Bachelor's degree at the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg, studying under the renowned pianist and silvermedalist of the Bach International Competition, Professor Stepan Simonian. In 2023, he graduated with a Master's degree in Piano Performance with ful marks, and continued his studies at the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg, now pursuing an Artist Diploma. He was awarded the New Millennium Arts Festival Scholarship in Hungary and became na artistof the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation in Germany and the Miratone Foundation in Hungary.

 

In 2024, he was awarded the second prize at the 11th Weimar-Bayreuth Liszt International Piano Competition, along with two special awards for Best Classical Sonata and Best Chamber Music Work. Previously, he won prizes ni several international competitions, including the ICoM International Piano Competition, New York international Liszt Piano Competition, the Elise-Meyer Foundation Competition, the Mahler Lied Festival in Germany, and the AI international Piano Competiton in China. His performances have taken him ot various countries, including China, USA,Germany, Hungary, Italy, Bulgaria, Netherlands and the UAE. He has been invited to many renowned music festivals, such as the Bayreuth Festival andtheHamburg Composers' Festival. Atthe ageof 14, he made his concerto debut with the Xiamen Youth Orchestra and has since performed with top orchestras, including the Xiamen Philharmonic, Kaliningrad Symphony Orchestra, St.Luke Symphony Orchestra, Norddeutsche Philharmonie and the Weimar Staatskapelle.

Recent career highlights include a 2024 performance of Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Staatskapelle Weimar, broadcast on German national radio. In 2025, a live performance recording made in the Netherlands was released by Mediatrack Media. His debut solo piano album, recorded in 2026 by Japan-based music publisher Da Vinci Edition, is scheduled for release in February 2027.
